Gmail
Gmail connects through OAuth2 rather than an API key: you authorise EmailElement on Google's own consent screen and no password is kept here. One Gmail account can be active in one Send Integration at a time.
Instructions
- Confirm the user has a verified sender domain in EmailElement (Sender Domains).
- For the API integration type (recommended): Gmail uses OAuth2 authentication — no API key is needed. The user authorizes their Gmail account directly through Google's consent screen.
- Create the integration: navigate to Send Integrations > click Create Send Integration > select API type > choose Gmail > click Next > enter integration name > select verified sender domain(s) > click Create.
- After creating, click Authorize Gmail on the integration. This opens a Google sign-in window where the user:
- Selects their Gmail or Google Workspace account
- Grants EmailElement permission to send emails on their behalf
- The window closes automatically on success
- Each Gmail account can only be active in one Send Integration at a time. If the user tries to authorize a Gmail account that is already in use by another integration, they will see an error with a link to the existing integration.
- If the user sees "Your gmail account has already been granted access to EmailElement" and needs to re-authorize:
- Go to https://myaccount.google.com/connections
- Remove EmailElement access
- Return to the Send Integration and click Authorize Gmail again
- Verify: click Run Test to confirm the integration is working.
- Gmail can also be set up as an SMTP integration for users who prefer SMTP relay.
