Suppression Lists
A Suppression List is who must not be emailed. Entries can be plain addresses, whole domains, wildcard patterns or hashes, and a list can be made global so that it applies to every send in the account.
Instructions
- Navigate to Suppression Lists > Create Suppression List. Enter a name for the list.
- Select a Suppression Format: Email (plain text), Pattern (wildcard match like
*bot*), MD5 (hashed), SHA512 (hashed), or Domain (entire domain suppressed). - Optionally toggle the Global slider to make the list apply to all sends across the account.
- Click Create, then upload a file: Browse > select file > map the email column > choose Append or Repopulate > Process File. Duplicates are auto-filtered.
- To add entries manually: click Add > enter up to 250 items > Save records.
- To change a list to global after creation: double-click the list > toggle Global slider > Confirm.
Suppression List Types
Lists are assigned a type automatically based on how they are created:

|---|---|---|
| Normal | User creates without Global toggle | Standard list, manually assigned to Scheduled Emails. Only applies to sends where it is explicitly selected. |
| Global | User creates with Global toggle on | Applies to all sends across the entire account. Every Scheduled Email, Triggered Sequence, and Transactional Relay checks this list. |
| Unsub | Auto-created per Brand | Automatically populated when recipients click the unsubscribe link. Cannot be deleted. |
| Bounce | Auto-created per Account | Automatically populated with hard-bounced and complaint email addresses. Cannot be deleted. |
| EE Global | System-managed by EmailElement | A platform-level global suppression list. Applies to all sends automatically. |
Note: Unsub and Bounce lists are managed by the system — they cannot be created or deleted by users, but you can view their contents and manually add and delete entries.
