CAKE Auto-Suppression Setup

Prerequisites

• An active CAKE account with API access and an offer configured for suppression distribution.
• The CAKE credentials: API Key, OfferId, Affiliate URL, and AffiliateId.
• An Optizmo API Key associated with the CAKE offer. CAKE routes its suppression list through Optizmo, so this field is required in addition to the CAKE credentials.
• A suppression list in EmailElement with a format compatible with what CAKE/Optizmo provides (typically MD5).

Getting CAKE Credentials

1. Log in to your CAKE account.
2. API Key — navigate to Settings > API and copy the API key.
3. Affiliate URL — your CAKE tracking domain (e.g., https://yourtracking.com).
4. AffiliateId — found under Affiliates > your affiliate profile > ID column.
5. OfferId — found on the offer's detail page in CAKE.
6. Optizmo API Key — obtained from the Optizmo account that distributes the suppression list for your CAKE offer.

Configuring in EmailElement

1. Navigate to Suppression Lists in EmailElement.
2. Create a new suppression list or select an existing one:
   • If creating new: click Create Suppression List > enter a name (e.g., "CAKE Auto-Suppress") > select the appropriate format (usually MD5) > click Create.
3. Open the suppression list by double-clicking it in the grid.
4. Toggle the Automated Imports slider to On.
5. Select Cake from the List Provider dropdown.
6. Enter the required fields:
   • API Key — your CAKE API Key
   • OfferId — the CAKE offer ID whose suppression list you want to pull
   • Affiliate URL — your CAKE tracking domain
   • AffiliateId — your CAKE affiliate ID
   • Optizmo ApiKey — the Optizmo API key tied to this CAKE offer
7. If you already have a Cake Platform Integration configured in Platform Integrations, the API Key, Affiliate URL, and AffiliateId fields are auto-populated from that integration — you only need to enter the OfferId and Optizmo ApiKey.
8. The Download URL is auto-populated after selecting Cake as the provider.
9. Set the Frequency for automatic downloads:
   • Daily is recommended to stay current with opt-out requests.
10. Click Save to store the configuration.
11. Click Run Now to perform the initial download and verify the connection works.

Verifying the Setup

1. After clicking Run Now, wait for the import to complete.
2. Check the upload history grid in the suppression list detail view.
3. Confirm that records were processed and the count is reasonable.
4. If the import fails, verify:
   • The CAKE API Key, OfferId, Affiliate URL, and AffiliateId are correct (no extra spaces).
   • The Optizmo ApiKey is valid and tied to the same offer.
   • Your CAKE account has API access enabled and the offer is active.
   • The suppression list format matches what CAKE/Optizmo provides (typically MD5).

Ongoing Maintenance

• Automated imports run on the configured frequency without manual intervention.
• Check the import history periodically to ensure downloads are completing.
• If any credential changes in CAKE or Optizmo, update it in EmailElement immediately.
• The suppression list accumulates entries over time; each import appends new records.
• If you update the Cake Platform Integration's credentials, the auto-suppression config does not refresh automatically — update the suppression list's credentials directly.
